LGBTQ+

LGBTQ+ is an acronym that represents a diverse community of individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, and others who fall outside of the heterosexual and cisgender norms. The “L” stands for lesbian, women who are attracted to other women; “G” for gay, typically referring to men who are attracted to other men; “B” for bisexual, those who are attracted to both same-gender and different-gender individuals; “T” for transgender, referring to those whose gender identity differs from the sex assigned at birth; and “Q” for queer or questioning, encompassing a broad spectrum of identities and orientations. The plus sign (+) signifies the inclusion of all other sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions that are not specifically covered by the preceding letters, such as intersex, asexual, and non-binary identities, among others. The term is used to promote visibility, acceptance, and representation of a wide range of sexual and gender diversities.
